Vaccinations & Preventative Care
Annual physical exams are important for any pet in order to detect problems or illnesses before they become serious. Pets age much more rapidly than people so if age-related diseases are caught early enough, we can control them with medications or even simple dietary adjustments. Our staff will recommend a suitable vaccination schedule according to your pet’s age and lifestyle.
Flea & Tick Control
Fleas and ticks are two of the biggest concerns for pet owners. They’re not just a nuisance, but they pose health risks for both you and your pet. There are numerous options when it comes to flea and tick prevention and we can help you select the best one for your pet. Prevention is the best defense against these parasites but it’s also important to be able to recognize signs and symptoms so you can get your pet treated right away.
Maintaining good dental health is critical to your pet’s overall health and their teeth should be checked by a veterinarian at least once a year. If your pet is suffering from bad breath, broken or loose teeth or discolored teeth, you should bring them in right away. Dental problems can affect a pet’s comfort and appetite. Following an oral examination of your pet, our doctors will apply the necessary treatments, such as a filling or extraction, and educate you on how to properly care for your pet’s teeth.
Animals feel pain and discomfort just like humans do. Our team at Bloom Animal Hospital understands the importance of recognizing and alleviating pain as soon as it’s exhibited in our pet(s). We’ll work tirelessly to make sure your companion quickly returns to their normal self.
As evidence mounts regarding the detrimental effects of stress and anxiety on the health and well-being of veterinary patients, we at Bloom Animal Hospital are strong advocates for your pet’s mental well-being at the clinic. We do everything we can to free our patients from fear, anxiety and stress by making the visit as pleasant as we can (food treats, relaxing music, pheromone sprays, etc).
Your pet’s nutritional requirements change as they grow and reach their senior years. For instance, a healthy, adult dog does not need the same amount of protein as a puppy would. Our knowledgeable staff will help you make the correct nutritional choices for your pet based on their age, activity level and overall health.
Microchips are tiny computer chips with a personal identification number enclosed within biocompatible material. The entire device fits inside a hypodermic needle and is simply injected under the skin of your pet. Microchipping is a permanent identification that cannot be lost, altered or removed. It’s a safe and simple way to protect your pet from being lost or stolen.
Dr. Bloom is a board-certified veterinary dermatologist by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology Board (ACVD). He has advanced training and equipment to diagnosis and manage diseases of the skin (including allergies) and ear in dogs and cats.
Radiology allows our veterinarians to evaluate the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems in your pets.
Bloom Animal Hospital has non-invasive, modern technology that uses sound waves to examine your pet’s internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs.
Laboratory tests are available to all of the pets we service. Our staff will take into account your pet’s symptoms, breed, age and sex to determine what laboratory test will be best. These medical and diagnostic tests allow us to easily identify infectious agents, toxins or any other causes of disease.
Bloom Animal Hospital is experienced and equipped to perform all routine surgeries on your pet. We also offer a variety of non-routine surgeries if necessary or can refer you to a highly-regarded specialist. In order to ensure your pet has a safe and comfortable surgical experience, we will always do the following:
Complete pre-anesthetic blood tests
Electronically monitor pulse, temperature, carbon dioxide levels, blood pressure and blood oxygen levels
Safely administer anesthesia
Provide pre and post-op pain medications
Give your pet lots of tender love and care
